BIO
Tim Doyle is a drummer, producer, composer and percussionist. An active member of the London jazz scene and beyond, Tim’s musical explorations have taken him from Jazz to Drum & Bass, from West African percussion to composing music for films.
With his innovative, solo endeavour, Chiminyo, Tim has been labeled ‘one of the boldest percussionists in the country’ (Clash Magazine). From behind his drum kit - via laboriously self-coded software - each cymbal crash and drum hit triggers a synth or sample from his laptop. This has lead to endorsements from Roland and Bosphorous Cymbals, as well as becoming an Ableton artist.
Critically-acclaimed by the likes of Gilles Peterson and played on BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, Jazz FM and more. He has been nominated for the Jazz FM Digital Award and the Worldwide FM Award ‘Track of the Year 2020’.
He is also a key member of renowned bands Maisha and Cykada with both projects achieving popular and critical acclaim. Leading to a life full of touring the globe and releasing records on notable labels such as Brownswood, Gearbox, Nightdreamer and Astigmatic. Whilst collaborating with a myriad of world-class musicians; Shabaka Hutchins, Gary Bartz, Nubya Garcia, Theon Cross and Zara Mcfarlane to name a few.
As a composer Tim has had two Classical pieces premiered ‘The Codex Seriphanianus String Quartet’ and ‘Dhrupad Clarinet Quartet’. He has written music that has featured on adverts, radio and television across the globe. Most recently he has turned his attention to scoring the short film ‘We Met Before’ by Thalissa Teixeira. With a composed score for an ensemble of 20 musicians, this 10 minute film has been accepted in to Norwich Film Festival, Aesthetica Film Festival and Rhode Island International Film Festival.
